Other - The Mustang

Though I've since lost interest, building cars was my first real hobby. I worked as an auto mechanic from 1995 to 2004, during which I got involved in amateur drag racing. In 1998 I bought a 1967 Mustang Fastback and started pouring all of my money and time into it. I soon had the car running a very respectable 12.20 in the quarter mile, which is fast enough to embarrass Corvette and Porsche owners. I drove the car to work and school every day until I eventually bought a truck for commuting. I then went through the entire Mustang again with the goal of making it as fast as possible on pump gas while maintaining some street driveability. The result was a 550 horsepower monster capable of clicking off 11.1 second quarter mile times. On a sticky track the car can pull the front wheels off the ground. I hit the Orange County and LA street racing scene and quickly made a name for myself, only losing 1 heads up race out of about 40 over the course of a summer. These days the car mostly collects dust in the garage, but it does still pick up the groceries on occasion.
