A friend and I hiked into the Palisade basin, making an attempt on Thunderbolt Peak, one of the most challenging of the 14000 foot mountains in California. Even the hike in was challenging, but the scenery consistently impressed. I left the SLR at home to shave weight and took these photos with a Canon point-and-shoot.
